Seeing by Feeling

Seeing by Feeling

Seeing by Feeling is a new service provided by Facebook for the visually impaired or blind, this is a paper version of the application that is posted to the user. Incorporating Blind Printing and Braille to create a personal and physical experience, it communicates the importance of user needs.

Paper has an important role in peoples lives, some more than others. The sensual personalised book which is unique to the user, creates a sensual experience for the visually impaired who currently rely on screen readers. Those with a visual disability remain connected with friends but with an improved experience. The user can keep a continuing collection of their Facebook posted memories within the book.

Facebook currently employ a blind computer programmer to improve the application, this project takes that level of commitment and social responsibility a big step further. They would be the first social media giant to create a substantial positive and ethical change for the disabled.
